I'm guessing that many of you watched the documentary "Control Room". Josh Rushing was a military officer back then, but he joined Al Jazeera. I just searched his name to see what he's up to now, and I found the following website ...

Pretty fancy website. He got himself on the cover of Fast Company and also GQ ...
Note to those of you who have not watched the documentary "Control Room":
It's one of better documentary films, IMO. Also it presents an interesting perspective on the media.
Forgive me my ignorance but I never heard about him and the documentary but thanks for the info. Can you tell us something about "Control Room"? Is it more like 9/11

Sure ... Control Room is a documentary film about Al Jazeera. The director of the film wanted to make a documentary film about Al Jazeera, the most successful and the most controversial media in Arab World (and in the world arguably). What ended up happening is that Iraq war started right in the middle of filming the documentary. The director also got to meet people in media business as a result. One of people she met is Josh Rushing a United States Marine Lieutenant who was a press officer for United States Central Command. He essentially became one of stars in the film ...
Josh Rushing currently works for Al Jazeera; he was recruited after he returned to US.
Thanks for the information.
Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly branded it a "propaganda network ... bent on encouraging violence and sympathetic to terrorists." And Iraq's new government temporarily closed the network's offices in Baghdad, saying that Al-Jazeera incites insurgents by showing video of attacks and statements from Osama bin Laden and his deputies.
But Rushing, who will appear on a global, English-language news channel the network hopes to start by spring, considers his decision to work for Al-Jazeera noble, not seditious. "I've given my entire adult life to the health and well-being of this nation," Rushing says. "I wouldn't do anything to threaten that.

"Al-Jazeera has been judged already and found guilty already in the eyes of most Americans and particularly the (Bush) administration," says Hugh Miles, a British freelance journalist and the author of Al-Jazeera: The Inside Story of the Arab News Channel That Is Challenging the West. "Many people will see Josh Rushing as collaborating with an enemy propaganda outfi

I don't disagree with you, but Control Room is a very good documentary, so I highly recommend it. Also DVD has his commentary, so if you have chance, you should listen to his commentary as well. To defend Josh Rushing, I think that he got tired of being portrayed as a liberal traitor or Arab sympathizer. When Control Room was filmed, he was just doing his job. He was just giving his honest opinion to the film maker when he was serving his country, which most commentators never ever did; in fact, they refused to do. So, he might have felt that he was judged and portrayed unfairly.
