MOSCOW. Dec 18 (Interfax) - Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov has signed a resolution confirming the pledge to write off the debts of heavily indebted poor countries, the governmental press service said on Monday.
The Finance Ministry, the Foreign Ministry, the Economic Development and Trade Ministry and Vnesheconombank will hold negotiations with the debtor countries that complete their participation in the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries Initiative of the IMF and the World Bank this December. The sides will coordinate write-off terms.
The negotiations will take place if the aforesaid states officially appeal to the Russian Finance Ministry. If an agreement is reached, the ministry will refer for approval to the government.
