The men allegedly behind last week's failed terror plots in England and Scotland have connections to al Qaeda in Iraq, U.S. officials said Tuesday.

At least some of the suspects were recruited by al Qaeda while they were living in the Middle East, the sources said.

Suspect charged in UK bomb attempts



LONDON, England (CNN) -- Iraqi doctor Bilal Abdulla has been charged in connection with last week's failed car bombings in London and Glasgow, a Scotland Yard spokesman said.


Dr. Bilal Abdulla, his face obscured because of British press laws, was arrested at Glasgow Airport.

Abdulla, who is scheduled to appear at the city of Westminster magistrate court on Saturday, was charged Friday with conspiracy to cause explosions, the spokesman said...
