UNITED NATIONS - Libya was elected to a two-year term on the Security Council yesterday in recognition of leader Moammar Gadhafi's efforts to build international legitimacy and improve ties with the United States.
Vietnam and Croatia won their first Security Council seats in voting by the United Nations' 192 member governments; Burkina Faso and Costa Rica also were elected. The five new members will replace the Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Peru, Qatar and Slovakia on Jan. 1....
