The Nobel Peace Prize goes to...
| |
| 10/13/06
I must confess I have never heard about this bank or about Muhammad Yunus but here we go:
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2006, divided into two equal parts, to Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank for their efforts to create economic and social development from below. Lasting peace can not be achieved unless large population groups find ways in which to break out of poverty. Micro-credit is one such means. Development from below also serves to advance democracy and human rights.

Greenpeace vs. Apple
| |
| 09/28/06
After a smashing report , Greenpeace has found a new enemy. Apple Computers. But Greenpeace has started a different kind of campaign for this case:
Apple listens to the people who buy their product: it's one of the things we all love about them.
And it's why we want you to run this campaign. We want you to create the campaign T-shirt, pen the speech in which Steve Jobs announces the Greening of Apple, shoot the Apple Ad that sets Cupertino talking about clean production and take-back schemes. The Green my Apple website has all the information and the raw materials you need to get you started. If you're creative, create. If you're networked, network. There's plenty to do, and many hands make light work.
You can also watch a Greenpeace parody of Apple’s latest advertisement. Hit the link below.
By the way, this is written with an Apple Powerbook.

A $3 Billion Virgin and a €60 000 Lincoln
| |
| 09/25/06
Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson has joined Warren Buffett and Bill Gates in the eternal fight for a better world. Branson’s mission is to clean our world and to avoid global warming:The money will come from profits from Virgin's transportation and airline businesses and will directed to a division of the company known as Virgin Fuels, Branson said. The new division, which Branson announced last week, will invest in clean fuels and renewable energy.
The pledge comes on the heels of a decision earlier this year by Branson to invest in cellulosic ethanol in a bid to cut Virgin's fuel bill and an investment this summer in two ethanol refineries.Source: ENS-Newswire And Warren Buffett has sold his car for €60 000 on ebay.Mr. Buffett also is divesting himself of his 2001 Signature Series Lincoln Town Car – which also is for a great cause.
