The Decline of Feminism

Is the end of feminism near? That is the question I asked myself while I was writing The Hollywood Hypocrisy Trilogy. Angelina Jolie and Ellen Page are getting praised as role models. Unfortunately, the truth behind these women is ugly and quite disgusting. You can read about them HERE We are about to witness the end of feminism, as we know it. The feminist movement has lost its drive and changed into a fake monstrosity. Many people wait and hope for a recharge or a renewing of the feminist movement. But like our civilization, feminism is slowly but surely ending.

Feminism – What are you?
What exactly is feminism? Now more than ever feminism suffers from an identity crisis. Feminism has become an unpleasant word. It is a word associated with unshaved legs, angry butches, burning bras and man-haters. Many women have no longer any connection with feminism or its movement. The post-modern woman creates a distance, a gap or a wall from the responsibilities feminism is dragging along. The feminist movement has staled and became sterile. Once full of pride, now full of self-loathing. Feminism went through a new paradigm shift. A shift back to oppression and sexism, hiding under the name of feminism.
Third Wave or Last Wave?
Alexander Fraser Tytler studied the cyclic nature of democracy.
According to Tytler, democratic nations always progress through the following sequence (Tytler-Cycle):
-From bondage to spiritual faith -From spiritual faith to great courage -From courage to liberty -From liberty to abundance -From abundance to complacency -From complacency to apathy -From apathy to dependence -From dependence back into bondage*
(*The Origin of these steps is not known. Many sources point at Tytler, although the actual author is still a mystery.)
Feminism is a byproduct of democracy. The end of democracy means the end of feminism. Let’s see if we can use the Tytler-Cycle for the feminist movement too.
The first-wave feminism started with the Suffragists founded in 1897 in the United Kingdom. The Suffragists were a group of women fighting for the right to vote and to gain political power. We can clearly see the first step in Titler’s cycle. The step from bondage to spiritual faith. Spiritual faith may not correspond to political power but we cannot deny that this was the beginning of a spiritual revolution. It was an act of rebellion against the man. Eve refused to obey Adam.
The second-wave feminism started in the early 1960s and ended in the 1980s. Sexuality, reproductive rights, family structures and workplace issues were among the major objectives of the second wave. Spiritual faith turned to great courage and great courage grew to liberty, although those steps can also be found in the first-wave movement.
Third-wave feminism tries to improve on the second wave but cannot find a common ground. The quest for liberation but lack of identity leads to nowhere. The third-wave movement is a mixed multitude that alienates the core group and therefore lost a sense of unity. The hard-earned liberty of the second-wave changed into abundance.
Tytler wrote:
“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.”
How do these words apply to our case? Is feminism equal to democracy? To a certain extent, yes. Both systems are established by people for people. Both movements reflect the principles of equality and freedom. Feminism can be seen as a child of democracy. They co-exist in a symbiotic relationship. But like democracy so has feminism outlived its function. Decadence and selfish pleasures remove any purpose for the greater good. Complacency turns to apathy. Only a small group of feminists is left. Many women try do distance themselves from feminism or simply ignore it. Achievements are taken for granted. Freedom without responsibility.
We are reaching the last step of Tytler’s cycle: from dependence to bondage. Women have tasted freedom and equality. It would be impossible to turn them back into an oppressive state. Except of course, you can pervert the idea of freedom and seduce them into false independence. The end of feminism will be preceded by the Anti-Woman.
The Anti-Woman
In Fritz Lang’s Metropolis a mad scientist creates a female cyborg. The sole purpose of this cyborg is to manipulate and destroy society with the seductive powers of a femme fatale. This female Cyborg becomes the antithesis of a woman: The Anti-Woman. A man-made sex object. Pretty and soulless. But highly functional.Francesca Myman wrote in her essay The "Nature" of the Female Cyborg: Evidence of Will in the Mechanical Woman:“It might seem that the robot is the epitome of "blankness" and "display". It is not subject to human foibles of variation in form, but represents an unattainable Platonic perfection. Any possibility of getting past the mask is precluded by internal emptiness. In this scenario the robot repels because no spirit inhabits it, and attracts because the human eye assumes the presence of a soul behind human appearance. There is unease in the absence of an expected soul which precludes projection of the viewer's soul into the metal chassis. The metal skin of the woman robot eerily reflects back the gaze of the viewer, quite literally "nothing but surface", representing a European "tribal mask" of ideal feminine proportions. Any meaning is imagined and is the imperative of the human viewer. Yet the resonance of the human form with the absent soul creates a fascination in viewers which amounts to fetishism, a viewing which is inherently uncontrolled and compelled.” (Source)Hello Kitty! Where is your mouth?Men are still considered as threat and sometimes portrayed as modern barbarians. It is true that the man has still, to a certain extend, the upper hand, despite the success of liberation movements. Nevertheless, destruction of feminism does not only come from without, it also comes from within. The Anti-Woman is the herald of dependence and bondage. They are brainwashed and programmed. Educated to follow certain behavior patterns. Marionettes, mannequins, bondage dolls and robots are among the types of the Anti-Woman. Promoted, celebrated and worshipped by millions. You can see them on TV, in fashion magazines and on the big screen. They sing for you a number one hit on the billboard charts or pretend to play the strong and independent idol you are craving for. They are sleek and tempting like Greek sirens.Forces are working behind the scene with the objective to destroy the free-minded woman and rebuild her as a robot. “The robot is showcased as both product and symbol of a patriarchal culture, … The robot becomes the stale and stagnant "endpoint" of an over-civilized masculine intellect, a fetish object and external manifestation of an illness endemic to the masculine intellectual spirit, completely without her own will… In this scenario of a man-constructed instrument, the robot is the antithesis of nature, representing the height of technology, which further inhibits the attribution of a soul.”(Myman)Feminism has become perverted. Women are transformed into mindless and pretty dolls. Suppression is cloaked under a new form of sensuality. Whores of BabylonWomen of Hollywood belong to the class of Anti-Women. These women are perfectly crafted and molded. They have to entertain and please. Hollywood does not promote progressive women but false idols. Naomi Wolf, author of The Beauty Myth, wrote a glorifying piece of junk about Angelina Jolie in Harper’s Bazaar. “Yes, she is conventionally beautiful” and “In other words, women both identify with her and desire her,” are only some of her gushing words for Jolie. Ironically, Angelina Jolie is the very thing Naomi Wolf denounces in her book The Beauty Myth. A plastic surgery riddled Madonna/Whore, who steals, lies, manipulates and abuses. Read more HERE. Angelina Jolie is the personified Anti-Woman. Newcomer Ellen Page, Angelina Jolie’s successor, said
"I call myself a feminist when people ask me if I am, and of course I am 'cause it's about equality, so I hope everyone is. You know you're working in a patriarchal society when the word feminist has a weird connotation."
A funny quote, when you consider that her movie Juno was produced because actor/producer John Malkovich wanted to sleep with her. It must be easy to boast about being a feminist when you have this “patriarchal society” as your "sugar daddy". Ellen Page is not a feminist. She is a sex object easily bought by older Hollywood producers. She is only playing the role of a strong and independent feminist.
Unfortunately, Jolie and Page are not the only women, who use this perverted idea of feminism in Hollywood.
Actress Megan Fox shows us that even in the 21st century a woman has to sell her body as USP (Unique Selling Point) for a career in Hollywood. Fox is not so much a victim, rather conscious co-creator of her hypersexual image. An image carefully created for the success in Hollywood. What will happen if the sex-kitten persona is no longer useful? The kitten will be sacrificed and reborn as Stepford wife. Natalie Portman, praised for her intelligence, signed a petition to release rapist Roman Polanski from prison. Kate Winslet barely can convince herself to be a feminist without the permission of her publicist: Does Winslet feel that she's a feminist? 'I think I probably am, aren't I?' Her assistant hurriedly adds, 'In a loose, unofficial kind of way,' but Winslet continues to ponder. 'I think I probably am. I mean, not in a bra-burning way. But I think I am a feminist, yeah.'
Women in Hollywood are taught to follow a simple principle: Shut your mouth, spread you legs and make a lot of money for the man of Hollywood.
The Decline of Womanhood?
The coming end of the industrial society will inherent the end of feminism itself. Feminism belongs to Oswald Spengler’s winter phase, the finale phase of a civilization:
"You, the West, are dying. I see in you all the characteristic stigma of decay. I can prove that your great wealth and your great poverty, your capitalism and your socialism your wars and your revolutions, your atheism and your pessimism and your cynicism, your immorality, your birth control that is bleeding you from below and killing you off at the top in your brains. I can prove to you that these were characteristic marks of the dying ages of ancient states... Alexandria and Greece and neurotic Rome...".
In his book “The Decline of the West” Spengler predicted the end of our civilization. But he didn’t describe the downfall or complete destruction of the West. Spengler rather described the transformation and perfection of the West.
"Each culture has its own new possibilities of self-expression, which arise, ripen, decay and never return... I see world history as a picture of endless formations and transformations, of the marvelous waxing and waning of organic forms".
The Feminist Movement is connected with the fate of the Western Civilization. A woman, like a civilization, goes through transitions and metamorphoses. Once more the woman has to change and adept. This time it will be her final transformation. But into what? Will she become a soulless robot or a vital goddess? Will she descend or ascend?
